Dubious Authority is an independent graphic-goods operation built where strange history, skepticism, folklore, dark humor, quirky nonsense, occasional wholesomeness and glorious absurdity keep bumping into one another in a poorly supervised hallway.
Authority has always loved a good costume: robes, seals, uniforms, impressive typography and very serious people standing behind very serious desks. Dubious Authority likes the costumes too. We are simply less convinced by what they claim to prove.
The designs wander through strange history, cultural debris, folklore, skepticism, dark humor, absurdity and whatever else happens to look interesting along the way. Some are obscure. Some are ridiculous. Some are unexpectedly wholesome. A few may require explaining at dinner.
This is not a temple, movement, manifesto or recruitment office. Curiosity outranks certainty here. The joke can be dark, the reference can be deep, and nobody is required to pretend the universe came with an instruction manual.
Dubious Authority LLC was established in West Virginia in 2026. The operation is deliberately small, independently run and curated one questionable artifact at a time.
Not questionable people in the criminal-record sense, necessarily. More the sort who read the plaque, examine the seal, notice the footnote and quietly ask, “Says who?”
